Siam Ink presents WBP Wai Kroo videos
The Siam Ink blog has presented it’s readers with some precious video content of the last Wat Bang Pra Wai Kroo Master Dy Ceremony. The Ceremony is THE event of the Year as far as Sak Yant tattoos are concerned. The Ceremony is a yearly celebration and dedication of respect and devotion to the deceased master of Masters Reverend Hlwong Por Phern Tidtakuno and his apprentice Monks who now are continuing his legend making sak yant magick tattoos at the temple.

Normally on the first day of the festival, Hlwong Pi Dting will perform the “Korb Kroo” ceremony to bless and protect the devotees of HP Phern and initiate them into the lineage. Korb Kroo is the laying on of the mask of Ruesi Por Dae Dta Fai, who is seen as the Kroo of Sak Yant Magick.
The festival is a great chance to witness the phenomenon of “Khong Khuen” (spiritual trance/rapture) where devotees who wear tattoos of various images of Devas and the Mythological Himapant animals are seemingly posessed by the spirits of the Devas and animals, and run around prancing and screaming in the style of the Deva or animal which they are posessed with.
A strange fact to note is that, in most cases, the animal or Deva which posesses the devotee is normally that of the image which they have tattooed; If a monkey is tattooed, the devotee will most likely become Hanuman, or if Ratchasri or Suea Paen (leaping Tiger tattoo) then he will start clawing at the air rearing up on all fours with hands rreaching out in front of him and growling…
This phenomenon remains unexplained, but is described in Buddhist terms as Beeti (sometimes spelled “Piti”), meaning “spiritual rapture”.
Hlwong Por Phern was the Master Magic monk responsible for making various Sak yant tattoos famous for the power of Kong Grapan magic, such as “Gao Yord” (nine spires/peaks) and “Suea Paen” (leaping tiger tattoo).
